Best Friend + Bruce = Beautiful

IMG_1888Last Saturday night I went to see Bruce Springsteen. A close friend of mine has a brother in the band and he got me tickets (LA kind of runs like that). It was extraordinary. Really.  We had amazing seats - the sort of seats that have you looking this way and that, because you're sitting among the elite of Hollywood (those famous enough, rich enough,  or well-connected enough to get really good seats.) I don't think of myself as being any of those. I just have a really close friend who has a brother...wait...I guess that is kind of a connection thing.

I have seen Bruce Springsteen before, but it's been awhile. I hesitate to say it, but it was kind of a spiritual experience for me. As absolutely corny as it sounds, I was in a blissed out state for 3 hours and 46 minutes - the length of time Bruce and the band played, nonstop, at an energy level so high that I never sat down.

IMG_23091I went with my best friend, Lillah (Consulting Producer on The Hollywood Beauty Detective, FYI). We had so much fun. I was smiling the entire night. I was smiling so much that my face hurt. If I wasn't singing, screaming, dancing, or jumping up and down, I was looking around at all the other people in the venue who were as blissed out as I was - and singing, screaming, smiling, dancing, and jumping up and down.

My focus on my website and my show is about beauty - finding beauty in things outside of the narrow definition we have been presented with. Well, last Saturday night, I was able to see beauty in watching a band perform who are so tight and so committed, it took my breath away. I was able to see the beauty in a performer, Bruce Springsteen, who relates more to "everyman" than to the elite of Hollywood (or to the elite of anywhere else for that matter). I was able to see the true joy and beauty of being with my best friend at an event where we laughed so hard we almost cried. And I was able to laugh at myself for getting "glammed" out in a "rockstar" outfit and heels - the outfit ended up being drenched in sweat from all my dancing and the heels were replaced early on by the flip flops I brought with me. IMG_1914

I know I'm gushing, but it was a brilliant and beautiful evening. There was something about seeing Bruce that made me happy to be alive. I filmed parts of it for you. It's up on the Episodes Page.

Take a minute today and listen to a song and sing along to it really loud. Or call your best friend. Find the beauty that's in the moment.
