Time to Conquer Your Fear - Lean In to Your Own Beauty

fear:   A feeling of anxiety and agitation caused by the presence of nearness of danger, evil, pain etc; dread; terror; fright; apprehension-Webster's New World Dictionary

Let's talk about fear ladies... Fear of failure, but also a fear of success. I think a lot of us suffer with both these types of fear and it can be debilitating - and oh so scary. We are afraid of what others will say or think about us if we present ourselves as beautiful, or if we genuinely feel good about ourselves and let that fact be known. It's the infamous double edged sword. Do I project confidence or is that considered to be arrogant?

When I look in the mirror, I see an attractive women looking back at me (most of the time) but I am almost embarrassed to feel that way. Even as I'm writing this, it makes me feel a little on edge because, "oh my gosh- what if you all think I'm some kind of stuck up bitch because I am allowing myself to say such a thing?" It's true, we hold ourselves back. Is that fear of failure or is it really a fear of success? I have worked hard on myself, from the inside out and I'm proud of the progress I've made. Why is it so hard to admit it? I think this is a fear that a lot of us have. It's ok to be proud of yourself. It's ok to feel beautiful. It's ok to walk with your head held high. IT'S OK!

"Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -Martin Luther King, Jr.

We put on our favorite lipstick because we want to feel beautiful and we want others to think we look as beautiful as we feel, so let's stop holding ourselves back from embracing that reality. That's the first step. Putting on that dress that makes you feel sexy can be your first step, or just simply loving yourself can be your first step.

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." -Nelson Mandela

Let's all be be brave and conquer our fear. We all deserve to look and feel beautiful, and we all deserve to have the confidence to walk into the room with our heads held high!
